Forgot My SASSA Phone Number, What Do I Do?

  • Forgotten Phone Number or Application ID:
    • Contact SASSA at 0800601011 if you’ve forgotten the phone number used for the SRD application.
    • Provide your new phone number or your ID for identification purposes.
  • Biometric Verification Process:
    • Undergo biometric verification by SASSA to confirm ownership of the SRD account.
    • Expect to receive two SMS messages, the second containing a link to change your forgotten number.
  • Changing Forgotten / Lost Number:
    • Click on the link received in the second SMS to change your forgotten number.
    • Enter and confirm your new phone number to successfully update it in the system.
  • Application Status Update:
    • Within a few days, use the new number to check your SRD application status hassle-free.

This systematic process ensures applicants who have forgotten their phone numbers or application IDs can easily update their information and access their SRD application status promptly through the revised phone number.

This is an update to change your contact number forgotten. You need to contact SASSA on the hotline 0800601011 for Biometric Identity Verification before changing the number.

This can happen to anyone who you may have forgotten or forgot your SASSA phone number.

For those applicants who are recipients of the SASSA SRD R350 Grant, mobile phone number is an integral part of the application and payment process to an extent.

So if you have forgotten your SASSA phone number, then you will have to change to a new one.

How do I check my SASSA Number If I Forgot it?

  • Call SASSA on their public hotline: 0800601011
  • provide them with your South African ID number
  • they may ask a few questions to verify if you are the owner of the ID number.
  • If the phone is registered in your name, they will ask, if not you may be asked a few more questions
  • if they are satisfied they will check your phone for you,
  • if they are not satisfied, you may have to go through a biometric verification procedure

But the only challenge is to have your application ID (AppId), a six-digit code which applicants are given when they first register for the grant.

It can also be found when checking the application status using the direct link https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status.

By providing the ID number and the old phone number, you can use it to retrieve the AppID.

In a case where you don’t know the application ID (AppID) and have forgotten the number, you better contact SASSA on the hotline 0800601011 or send them an email to [email protected] by stating the reason and don’t forget to indicate your ID number.

In case you have lost the SRD R350 number altogether and you want to change the number, please follow the same procedure outlined above and repeated below to change your lost cellphone number.
