To avoid Alternative Income Source Decline, Keep Your Account Empty for SASSA SRD R350 [monthyear]

One of the major reasons for the decline of SASSA SRD R350 grant application is the Alternative Income Source Identified.

According to SASSA, the applicant should not have received a total amount more than the threshold R624 in the month under consideration.

What that means is that, in a particular month, if the applicant’s balance being at the bank or a cash send or ewallet is more than R624, the applicant is classified as being having alternative source of income and will therefore be declined.

SASSA does not care if the money received is yours or not or for whatever purpose. All that they care is the total amount or the balance more than or less than the threshold.

What we have been advising applicants is to keep their bank or ewallet account which are in their names or ID empty.

SASSA runs a series a series of checks from the banks and other financial institutions and other money markets to check using the submitted ID numbers.

Sometime, the applicant might not even be aware, but these are done electronically and automatically.

Some applicants have raised concerns about the fact, they don’t know how SASSA gets those details from and have challenged them to provide evidence or further details.

All that SASSA keeps saying is for applicants who are not satisfied with the decline to lodge an appeal at the newly established tribunal Committee website https://srd.dsd.gov.za/appeals/appeal and provide the necessary details.
