UIF Registered Status for SASSA SRD R350 – What is it and what to do? [monthyear]

Have you recently checked your SASSA SRD R350 grant application status and found out that you are declined and the reason being that you are uif (Unemployment Insurance Fund) registered?

As part of the qualifications criteria set out by SASSA for the introduction of the SASSA SRD R350, it was spelt out the applicant must not be receiving uif benefits nor eligible for uif benefits.

What does that mean? Clearly what SASSA is saying here is that, if you are receiving uif or possibly you qualify to receive uif, you cannot be considered for the grant for the unemployed.

Statistics shows that, among the most applicants declined are as a result of uif registered and through some comments made by some of these affected applicants, they don’t see a reason why they should be declined.

According to them, they have contacted Labour department of their uif status and have been told they do not qualify for any uif benefits currently or at all.

This makes them wonder how SASSA is raising issues for UIF when they do not even qualify for its benefits.

What can i do to appeal if am declined for UIF registered?

As has been the case for all those who are declined, they are given thirty (30 days) grace period from the date of the decline to submit appeal or reconsideration application so that SASSA will take a second look at your application and verify if you are indeed qualify.

So head over to the link https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/reconsideration or use the appeal platform statring from April 2022 to March 2023 and beyond and follow the screen prompts to submit appeal application. When you get to the reason for the reconsideration, choose “no uif registered” and submit.

It may take some time for SASSA to review this appeal and you just have to be patient.

In a recent post by the Labour department on their Facebook page , they urged all those aggrieved applicants who have been declined for UIF registered not to visit their various offices bit should rather contact sassa and apply for reconsideration. SASSA will then officially correspond with UIF department for further investigation and verification.

But some affected applicants have expressed their worries over the delay in response to their appeals applications for months now. And indeed, sassa has acknowledged and apologized for that and have assured them that if they are eventually approved, their grants will be paid to them.
