The above might be the reason why there is a need to change cellphone numbers. At first, this feature was not activated but upon various requests from applicants, SASSA activated this.

Things you need Before You Can Change Your Cellphone Number
- Your new cellphone number
- Your ID number
- The AppID (thus the application ID). This was sent to you when you registered or updated your banking details online. But if you don’t have it, you can easily check your status online and it will show up.

Click on this link here https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/contact. Enter the new phone number that you want to change to. Provide your ID number and the AppID to request a change of cellphone number.
Accept the change after giving the reason for the change.
How long will it take for the change to take effect?
It can take an average period of three weeks or 21 days to complete the process. During this period, the new cellphone number will still not be active.
Can I Use My Old Number To Check SRD R350 Status?
Yes, as far as the process of changing your cellphone number is not yet completed, you can continue to use the old number to check your status.
