What Does SRD stand FOR SASSA SRD R350? – Explained 2023.

According to SASSA, SRD stand for Social Relief of Distress. Thus the stands for Social, R stands for Relief and D stands for Distress in 2023.

It has to be noted that there is already a category of grants called the SRD prior to global pandemic.

That grant is meant for citizens or individuals who may have been affected by a natural disaster or have gone through an acute unfavourable situations and may need state support being in terms of monetary benefit or food items or other support.

SASSA (South Africa Social Security Agency) is the public agency responsible for managing the grants in the country.

When the global pandemic was at its peak, millions of people who were already struggling with basic necessities were greatly affected. Due to this, the government through the ministry of finance and social development introduced this SRD R350 Grant.

Criteria was set up to guide qualification and if approved, applicants are then paid R350 on monthly basis.

The application is online where applicants filled out online application forms and details submitted are scrutinised for approval.
